" IT'S NOT JUST A HAT, THERE'S A STORY BEHIND MY PUTCHI "
Mirtha Yepez "Mirthyz" affectionately called by her friends, passionate about Latin American indigenous culture, especially Venezuelan, is dedicated among other things, to promoting the work and expressions of the indigenous peoples of her country Venezuela. Living and working on projects with the indigenous communities with OrinoquiArt, which means " Orinoco Art "decided that the artistic manifestations of these groups deserved and would have to be known throughout the world and, therefore, founded " My Putchi "
MY PUTCHI is not just a brand behind there is a story is a sustainable project that Mirthyz gave life to preserve the ties of his native country.
Looking at the situation so precarious, Mirthyz said I need to help my people, preserve our culture and traditions and contribute to the most vulnerable communities.
In recent times, the transmission of ancestral crafts values has declined from older adults who know techniques to new generations, a fact that has generated ignorance on the part of young people and indigenous children go living in large cities. The transfer that their families make to the cities, with the intention of achieving a better way of life or access to other opportunities, distances them from their ancestral customs.
With this project we support traditional skills, the remaining craftsmen obtain a sustainable income because it is no longer a lie that Venezuela faces difficult living conditions and restricted opportunities, regardless of the social status of the person, our indigenous communities face a severe crisis and are fleeing the country leaving their communities in this mass exodus seeking the most basic needs, since there is no water, electricity, there is no food, there are no medicines, the ancestral art is going extinct, the chaos is generalized and the level of malnutrition increases.
For this reason, has decided to devote part of her time to improving their living conditions through this sustainable project called #oriwayuuproject and bringing you the eclectic elegance and celebrate the alluring native culture of South America.
Mirthyz decided to go further to expand her knowledge studying the art of the hat by creating her own brand.
